Hi folks, hope you’re all well, sorry you haven’t heard from us on the blog in a while, we’ve all been a bit busy, either being ill, working hard, or revising for GCSEs (good luck Chris). We are aiming to start regular posts as soon as we can. Today I thought I’d bring you the news that Apple’s mid-range video product ‘Final Cut Express’ has been updated to version 4, adding support for ADVC camcorders and the ‘Open Timeline’ that was introduced with ‘Final Cut Studio 2′. There also appears to be some tweaks to the Soundtrack application, although no mention of any update to LiveType as yet. To read all the details for yourself go to this Apple product page. Pricing has also had an update, bringing this great video package down to a more affordable next step from iMovie. For new users Apple wants £129, existing users of any previous version of FCE can upgrade for £65. If you want to take the plunge you can go order your copy from the Apple online store While on the subject of pricing, UK users are once again seeing inflated prices when compared with our US friends, though I’m sure Apple will claim this is down to VAT having to be added on top (which looking at the figures does make some sense) My hope for the future would be that Apple will try to equalize prices by taking the VAT off for us?Now to some show news, we do have BUMP 013 recorded and ready to edit, however I’m having some issues getting the local records from Billy & Aaron, due to some issues with the ZIP files, I’ve just been on the phone with a very helpful gentleman from Apple Support, and he’s given me a few tips, mainly trying to compress the files with a different program.I’ll keep you all updated with the progress, and I think you’ll find this week’s show is worth the wait, we’ve tried something a little different for the format, so let us know what you think.Take care,Stu
