Here we are again new year new Software Saturday!
This year I have started to use the popular web 2.0 service Twitter and to make that process easier I have started to use a piece of software called Twitterific.
For those of you who don’t know what Twitter it is basically a Microblog which when it comes down to it is a blog that uses few characters usually somewhere around 200 characters or in Twitters case 140. For more information visit the wikipedia entry.
Twitter is generally used through its web interface but Twitterific. is an application that you download and because of twitters API you can use it to update your Twitter from your desktop.
Using twitterific you can follow your friends tweets and publish your own in the “What are you doing?” box which also next to it has a count down to the number of characters you are using so you don’t go over. It can be customised to display tweets from people you follow or tweets from the public timeline. All @replies work just as they would with Twitter. It can live in your dock or in your menu bar it depends on your preference.
You can even set a hotkey to activate twitter really quickly and set it to show everytime a new tweet is recieved. You can even make it a hovering window if you want. Another cool feature is you can set it that when you send a tweet your Skype iChat or Adium message status is updated with your tweet.
There are 2 versions of Twitterific. one is paid for and the other is not. If you get the free version every hour an ad is shown to you and if you do get the paid for version, a one off payment of $14.95 (£7.57) the ads are removed.
My rating for Twitterific.:

5 out of 5 stars.
If you have a piece of software that you would like to review yourself send me a link to the piece of software, write up an article and e-mail it to bumpodcast@googlemail.com.
