The iPhone is hands down the most revolutionary device in the world to be ever made. Everyone knows it, and I don’t know one person who doesn’t think that. This post is reflecting on iPhone 2.0. Just for clarification, I DO NOT own an iPhone. I do wish I had an iPhone, so I am going to tell you some things that I want to see in an iPhone before I greatly considering buying an iPhone.
1. 3G
Most cell phones have 3G. iPhone still uses the slower EDGE network. Good move Apple and AT&T! What’s good is that AT&T will be going on to 3G for the iPhone by the end of the year. My current cell phone, the Nokia N95, has 3G and 3.5G. iPhone is not even close to that.
2. GPS
My father and I were talking about the iPhone on a long car drive, and we decided to talk about some things he would like to see in an iPhone. First thing he said was GPS. Look at it this way. Google Maps is awesome. I use for directions, traffic and all your mappy needs. If the iPhone had GPS, that would help it even more!
3. VoIP
Ah, the good old VoIP. If you don’t know what VoIP is, it stands for Voice over IP. Most famous VoIP client, Skype. Now think about it. Skype + iPhone = Happy Daniel! I use Skype daily. If not daily, weekly! Skype is not only a way to communicate, its free! Instead of paying huge bills on your iPhone, have a Skype Client, and its free
Now that sounds good.
So this is just my two cents on what I want to see before I want to buy an iPhone. What do you want if you don’t have an iPhone, and want one. I am more then happy to know! Leave a comment below, or email me directly!

Connor, I think I said enough about video, so I didn’t want to about it even more, but there are rumors of “iPhone Pro.”
Robert, Skype should be either part of the data plan, or something along the lines.
Thanks!

I really want video. I envy you being able to stream all the time from Qik on your N95 while all of us using iPhones are left out.
The google maps new locate feature is usually pretty good, even without GPS, but real GPS would be better.

Video is what we really need in an iPhone. The N95 is a good phone, but its hard to use it for business needs like email with the small keys.
GPS would be awesome, since its touchscreen, and has a big screen for a GPS when on landscape, agree?

GPS would be awesome.

Ohk, i agree that 3G would be awesome, and a BIG selling point for the iPhone, but what makes you so sure that AT&T + Apple will have it on the iPhone by the end of the year?
GPS on the iPhone might be a greater selling point for the iPhone than 3G. Especially for ‘avarage joes’, like my dad for example. Who have the iPhone, but find it annoying to have the “best mobile device in the world” yet have to use a TomTom or a simalar device to get them from here to there.
VoIP on the iPhone would be good, but I think its kind of like why Apple & AT&T didn’t include an IM app at launch. (because they wanted people to use SMS more, instead of IM) People would be allways using Skype or other VoIP servies to make calls, and, although nice for long distance, AT&T would never allow it. You said above that it would might be part of the data plan or something. That is a good idea, but knowing Apple, and the fact that they now have control over apps. in the future App. Store, unless Skype makes a direct deal with AT&T, VoIP on an iPhone has an extreamly slim chance of happening. For now, i think that forwarding calls to the phone is enough.

Dil,
I can’t say that I do. I just wrote this post based on my opinion.
